Hotel Information:

The official hotel for the symposium is The Best Western Plus located at 146 Lockwood Drive, Charleston, South Carolina 29424, just minutes away from Avery. Room rates are $79.99, Monday-Thursday and $99.99 Friday-Saturday. We also have an additional block of rooms reserved at the historic Francis Marion Hotel located on scenic King Street in walking distance to Avery. Rooms at the Francis Marion are $179 nightly. Please contact the hotels directly to book your rooms. Booking for our special rates expire on August 16, 2011 and are valid for September 15-18, 2011 at both hotels.


Planning Your Trip:

The conference will be held at the Avery Research Center, 125 Bull Street, beginning Friday morning, September 16, 2011. Sessions will be held all day Friday, and include a buffet luncheon and an evening reception. We will have sessions all day Saturday with a buffet luncheon. Keynote addresses by Julie Dash and Yvonne Welbon will take place during the luncheons. All costs for the luncheons must be paid at the time of your registration. The conference ends at 5:00 pm Saturday, September 17, 2011. There will be a screening of the film at 7:00 pm at Hampton Park.
