    Celebrating Toni Cade Bambara!

    Linda J. Holmes

Join us at the Avery Research Center on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 6:00pm as we celebrate the life and work of Toni Cade Bambara with biographer Linda Holmes in a lecture and book signing: “Celebrating Toni Cade Bambara: A Life Free of Spiritual and Political Boundaries.”
A Joyous Revolt: Toni Cade Bambara, Writer and Activist (May 2014/Praeger Press) by Linda Holmes, is the first-ever, full-length biography of Toni Cade Bambara, the trailblazing writer, filmmaker, and activist who championed black women and the black poor and working class in her fiction as well as in her life. Bambara, who referred to herself as a “cultural worker”, believed that the artist’s job is always determined by the community she serves.
